I’m perfectly happy being an only doggie!
Some of the humans seem to think us doggies always do better in packs, ’cause we starteds out that way a long, long time ago. This can be true, but not always, some of us are perfectly happies with our humans and don’t want to share them with other doggies.
Especiallies older doggies like me.
I likes other doggies to say hello to and play with outside sometimes, but I don’t want to share my humans, or my toys or my bed with them. Having to share everything with the cats is bad enough – the bed thieves!
So if your humans want to get another doggie to keep them companies, that’s OK, but they shouldn’t think it’s necessarilies going to make their first doggy happier. ‘Cause I likes having all the attention and playing and chewies and toys just for me and I bet I’m not alone!
I’ve had doggies staying with me before and some of them I likeds OK, but I was always glad when they went away and I could have my humans to myself again. Especiallies because most of them were rather pushy and trieds to take over and I had to spend a lot of time hidings under the table and stuff. I don’t likes to be bossed around in my own house!
Some dogs likes other doggies so much that they don’t mind sharings and most doggies can get used to other doggies and get to likes or at least tolerates living with them. But all doggies is different in how much sharings they want to do and the humans should always let their doggy decide if they can manage sharings all their stuff or not.
If your humans are going to bring another doggie into the house, make sure that everyone has met and got on OK before the other doggie arrives at the front door.
Going for a nice long walk together someplace neither doggie thinks they own first is best. Then you already knows and likes the doggie by the time they end up sitting in your house and you won’t mind sharing so much.
But the humans should put away all your nice toys and stuff first anyhow (especially the nice chewies you were savings!), as us doggies might not agrees to share and start arguings, so it’s better not to risk it at first!
I bet the humans wouldn’t like it if some complete strange human just showed up in their house and made themselves at home either!
